Far Cry 2 (PS3)

Playing Far Cry 2 makes a welcome change from many first person shooters because it's open. You're not limited to a single path through the levels, your not forced to follow a single storyline, and so to me it's a more enjoyable experience.

It's got many of the features that an open game, you can drive cars, boats, and so far I've even found a hanglider you can fly. You can shoot anyone you can get to with a gun, and you can even take a bus if you feel like an easy ride.

All that said there are some downsides. The various guards respawn alarmingly quickly (you can kill all 3 at a check point, come back a minute later and they're all back again) and there are some problems with saved games (In one instance I couldn't get any missions and had to revert to a previous saved game), and no matter what you do the guards at road checkpoints seem intent on killing you, but once you've accepted that as part of the game it's all good fund.

If you enjoy the Stalker games, this one will provide you with a number of hours of fun.
